Filming Process for my Music Video

Image
The filming process took place on multiple days of this week and last week. We filmed on November 28th, 29th, and 30th. North Carolina was very cloudy and there were only 2 sunny days in the almost 2 weeks I've spent here. I dedicated the end of my trip to filming due to me wanting to spend time with my family. I found that I had more time to do my work during my last couple of days of my trip. I figure I had more time because of Monday and Tuesday being school days. I found it difficult to record seriously because I am very goofy when it comes to being around people I am comfortable with. I am also really shy, so it was kind of embarrassing. To get more of a home music video feel, I added some parents that made it seem like we were vlogging and speaking to our fans. I also added clips of us dancing around and having fun as we gained our confidence. Since this music video project was assigned to me, I have more clips of myself than my cousin and sister. I showed myself trying on d...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
This storyboard represents how I would like the process of filming the music video for the song Halfway There. I will try to meet my own expectations and hope everyone follows through with my ideas. The first box is what I need to do in order to begin the filming process, which is to go to North Carolina to be with my family. The second one is how I will approach the idea of including my cousin and family in the video. I will then make sure they are ok with being on camera, and part of the music video. This is a very important part of the project because this could make or break it. The third one represents us planning which days to record the clips for the music video. The fourth one represents another important part of the filming process, the weather. The weather has to be what we desire it to be to even record. The plan is for it to be sunny outside to symbolize happiness. The fifth one represents us picking basic outfits to wear for the music video and props that people use e...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
The song I chose for my music video, Halfway There, gives off a very positive message. So I wanted the music video to give off happy vibes and portray the message. I plan to record the music video outside while I'm on my trip. Anywhere I go with my family, I can ask if we can stop and record us having fun and giving off good, positive vibes to express the message. I also want to include my family in the music video to really give off the "I have your back" and "We're in this together." I don't have any specific props in mind, but whatever I happen to use in the music video will be considered a prop. The costumes are really just going to be basic everyday clothing that shows that we're comfortable with who we are. I think I would want to have our clothes progressively get better, and be more appealing. This will show growth since the song is about gradually reaching towards our goals. I would like the schedule of the whole process to go something lik...

Research blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
The song I am using for the music video is called Halfway There. The song is in the Pop genre and it is sung by a boy band. The characters in the music video will be me and it will feature some of my family. The video will be an uplifting video with a positive message. We will act out giving each other words of encouragement and show that we have each other's back. I am going to be outside, with natural, and it is going to take place when it is sunny outside. It is going to be nice weather and it is going to be bright when I film in the house. The props I would use would just be normal things I find laying around. I would use normal everyday things. As I've previously stated, the theme of the music video is going to be very optimistic. At the start of the song, the singer isn't hopeful about succeeding and explains how little they've reached their goal. After that first section, then the hook of the song comes in. The hook brings reassurance and togetherness. So I plan...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
For this music video project, I will be working alone. I have chosen to work alone for a very sensible reason. I am working alone because I will be in a different state for the Thanksgiving break my school has provided. I would rather not rush the filming process on the last days I have before I go to a different state. Another reason is I live far from the classmates I am familiar with, which serves as its own problem when it comes to filming. Transportation and time would be the main issues. The song I have chosen is called Halfway There. I have chosen this song because it is very uplifting and nostalgic. The song is about never giving up. It explains how the group works together and pushes each other to get closer to or reach their goal. The title is a perfect example of the optimism in the song. The phrase "we're halfway there" is seeing things in a positive light. It's almost like saying "we're almost there, we got this. Just a little further." Jus...

Creative Critical Reflection

Image
 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?      My product represents groups of people who like to cook. It could be found in cooking episodes featuring real chefs. My product can represent an issue for chefs when it comes to the duration of the cooking process. The Ninja Foodi Deluxe Pressure Cooker takes less time to cook the food, but the same result is given. The product offers more ways to cook food in a reasonable amount of time.   2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?      People who like to cook, and like to explore more ways to cook the food they love can be interested in this product. This product can definitely attract chefs who like to experiment. The Ninja Foodi Cooker might be found in cooking episodes or short commercials, like the one I made. The way they are bought is by being advertised or used public...

My Ninja Foodi Deluxe Pressure Cooker Commercial

Image
I think my commercial could have been better. One problem is that I am camera shy so I had a lot of bloopers. I also messed up by not paying attention to the steps on cooking the food. I feel as though I had too much content and didn't focus too much on the Ninja Foodi Deluxe Pressure Cooker as I should have. I paid more attention to making the food in the product. I feel as though the commercial is more of a cooking episode and experience. I tried to add little extra details to bring more attention to the product. I am pretty tech savvy, so uploading and editing was very easy for me. If I could have used a more professional camera to improve the quality I would have. But I felt I shouldn't do too much, and I should keep it simple. I think the quality was still pretty good, and to improve the lighting I used my ring light. Next time, I will ask for help recording and setting the camera up, because I pretty decided to keep the commercial independent. This was my first time film...

Editing My Ninja Foodi Cooker

Image
The editing process was a little more difficult for me. I used iMovie off of my iPhone to edit the commercial. My commercial was more like a cooking episode so I had to tweak it. I ended up trimming a lot of video material. I also added transitions and music to some scenes where there wasn’t any dialogue. I am comfortable with the iMovie editing app, so I didn’t feel the need to use any others. The less important clips like cooking the food, and describing the ingredients were cast out of the commercial. I kept it to mainly the functions of the Ninja Foodi Cooked, and less on the supporting details. I ended up having to get rid of some of the taste testing footage. I just showed what the food was rated out of 10. This scene took up some unnecessary space, but the opinions were very helpful. I sped some clips up as well. While trying to speak louder, I realized I wasn’t speaking fast enough. I wasn’t really aware of how long the commercial had to be, so I had more scenes to adjust. I ma...

Ninja Foodi Cooker Commercial Filming Process

Image
The filming process took place on October 30th in the evening. I first gathered all the ingredients and set them next to the Ninja Foodi Cooker. I am the director and the person featuring in the commercial. In some scenes, I had whoever was nearby record handheld scenes. I set the camera up in different places for different views of the cooking process. I recorded the ingredients on the counter next to the cooker and showed me getting the Ninja Foodi Cooker set up. I began the cooking process, switching the camera when necessary. I had my sister record an angle from behind me to show me cooking. I also held the camera to show the settings I put the cooker on. I had to reserve the kitchen to avoid interruptions and unnecessary background noise. I also tested how loud I sounded and how loud I had to speak. I wore headphones that have a microphone to detect what I was saying better. The Ninja Foodi Cooker was also kind of loud, so I had to speak up. Sometimes it was hard to get the p...
