Creative Critical Reflection

 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

My product represents groups of people who like to cook. It could be found in cooking episodes featuring real chefs. My product can represent an issue for chefs when it comes to the duration of the cooking process. The Ninja Foodi Deluxe Pressure Cooker takes less time to cook the food, but the same result is given. The product offers more ways to cook food in a reasonable amount of time.

 2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

People who like to cook, and like to explore more ways to cook the food they love can be interested in this product. This product can definitely attract chefs who like to experiment. The Ninja Foodi Cooker might be found in cooking episodes or short commercials, like the one I made. The way they are bought is by being advertised or used publicly whether it's in person or on television. Since the Ninja Foodi Cooker can be used to cook food in a shorter amount of time than regular pots and pans, it is bound to catch the attention of many viewers.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

For starters, I learned how to embed a YouTube video onto a blog. This whole process also introduced me to the world of blogging, which isn't that bad. I also found myself feeling too confident in my editing skills that I was on the verge of procrastination. It is good to have faith in myself, but I honestly do need more practice when it comes to editing. My editing needs to be smoother and less time-consuming. I also learned how to add music in the background, and to soften the volume on it during certain parts of the commercial.

4. How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online- in this project?

The product the commercial is based on is a form of technology itself. To film this project, I used another form of technology: a cellular device, or in simpler terms, my iPhone. When I finished filming, I opened up and editing software called iMovie. I edited the clips to make the commercial using that software. To get the background music, I went to Youtube, screen recorded the instrumental track that I wanted to use, and then I moved on to an app called Inshot. On Inshot, I entered the music in the background and edited the sound so it was quiet in some scenes, and louder in others. To convert my video to a mp4 version, I used an app called Media Converter. I saved the video to my phone, and went to YouTube, and uploaded it online as a public video.
