Research blog: Music Video Conventions
The song I am using for the music video is called Halfway There. The song is in the Pop genre and it is sung by a boy band. The characters in the music video will be me and it will feature some of my family. The video will be an uplifting video with a positive message. We will act out giving each other words of encouragement and show that we have each other's back. I am going to be outside, with natural, and it is going to take place when it is sunny outside. It is going to be nice weather and it is going to be bright when I film in the house. The props I would use would just be normal things I find laying around. I would use normal everyday things. As I've previously stated, the theme of the music video is going to be very optimistic. At the start of the song, the singer isn't hopeful about succeeding and explains how little they've reached their goal. After that first section, then the hook of the song comes in. The hook brings reassurance and togetherness. So I plan to maybe start the song off with some melancholy expressions and actions. Just begin the video with a negative vibe and an off demeanor to express the disappointment, and lack of confidence. Then I will showcase the change in attitude, and the inclusion of everyone to boost up the main actor's energy. I am going to make it seem like we are having a party. A party to celebrate how far we've come, and how close we are to our goal. It will be a bonding experience to encourage us and remind us to never give up. Music videos from the pop genre are much like their songs, upbeat and full of life. I want to portray a good time in the music video while staying true to the song's message.
