Filming Progress of "Chasing Me"

Image
Since the first day of filming, the 15th, I have made some progress and have gotten quality footage. I still want to film as much as possible before I edit. There are some clips that I feel could be better. I also need to find a new location for the field. The Tamarac Park closes too early for me. Due to daylight savings, it is still bright around 8 pm and it closes at 9 pm. I get home from track practice at around 6 to 7:30 pm. Then I take care of my hygiene and do homework. Since Spring Break came, I chose to use that week as a way to take a break. Therefore, I did not get any footage last week or this Sunday. Both Tuesday and Wednesday I was doing hair for my friends. Then on Thursday, I went to my friends house to celebrate her actual birthday. She had a small get together with food and music. On Friday I had to go with my sister and mom to Rick Case because my mom had to get her car serviced. After that, my sister and I ran some errands and my little cousins came over and spe...

Filming “Chasing Me”

Image
Today was the first day of filming. Daylight savings made it so it is brighter around 7 pm so I started filming at a late time. My mom went back to school, so she was doing her own work. My dad was with me and my sister at the park. There was not a lot of people at the park though. We had to film quickly because the park was about to close. I am definitely going to go back and get better footage. I did not get the lighting I wanted, but the acting and performance was good. Me and my sister know when it is time to be serious. We joked in the beginning because it was awkward though. I got most of the scenes, but they aren’t how I wanted them. I would need to film on a day that there are more people. Weekdays are usually the best times. Other than Saturdays which are very popular. I haven’t decided on the gas station yet. I think I would go to the gas station that is on the end of the road from my house. The Tamarac Park and the gas station are about 1 to 2 minutes away. That would b...

Preparing to Film the Final Task Part 2

Image
I have been dedicating this week to schoolwork. Schoolwork as in makeup assignments. I have been focusing on turning in assignments I have missed. While working on this final task, I have neglected my other assignments by missing a few assignments. I am going to dedicate the weekend, and the days of the following week to doing these assignments. Most of the assignments need to be turned in by Monday, the 15th. The quarter closes on the 19th, so I will work up until then. If I have free time during next week, I will get some footage for my film. In my last blog, I mentioned starting filming on the 15th. If that is going to be possible, I would have to work all morning and afternoon on my missing assignments, and then film in the evening. I will need to take time off from track practice. Additionally, I have plans to do a former track teammate's hair on the 18th. I will finish my assignments and film when I get the opportunity so I can dedicate the day to the appointment. Tonight, I...

Preparing to Film the Final Task

Image
As of today, I still haven’t began filming. I had a visit from family and a track injury as previously stated. My schedule also says that I will begin filming on the 18th of this month. As I am healing, I believe that I should probably begin filming earlier. I would not like to spend my spring break doing work, and I might travel during it. I also have a friend’s birthday coming up that I would like to be free for. On the other hand, I want to spend this week doing my schoolwork and makeup work. This final task has taken a lot of my time and the time I had to do work for other classes. I am somewhat behind, and I need to catch up expeditiously. I am a little stuck on deciding when I should actually work on the film process. Should I start early, or stick to my schedule? I also have a side hobby, doing hair. I am going to work on going to cosmetology school. I agreed to do a classmate’s hair on the 18th of this month as well. This means I would have to begin filming at least a litt...

Filming the Final Task

Image
For my film, I plan to film with my sister, and parents. However, I have not began the filming process. According to my schedule, I will begin filming around next week. I would start filming earlier to avoid the possibility of me procrastinating, but there are reasons why. One reason is that my family just came to town. I am trying to spend as much time with them as I can, while I have the opportunity. Another reason is because I have a lot of assignments. I am trying to wait for a time where my assignments are not as piled up. I am also trying to finish makeup assignments while I have been given the chance. The main reason is because I have a slight injury. I run track for my school Fort Lauderdale High school. During practice I pushed myself too hard and pulled a muscle. This happened Monday of this week, and I am still recovering. I was limping and it was hard to move and be active. The film involves walking normally and a lot of camera interactions. I would like to work on my ...

Planning for Final Task: Storyboard

Image
My storyboards have a more organized and clear display and explanation on how the film will go. It includes camera movements, lighting, acting, and sounds for each scene. The drawings will give a better understanding on how the film will look. This is more of a main idea visual, meaning not every single detail will be included. I will follow this storyboard, and the script, when making my film.

Planning for Final Task: Title Design

Image
My film's opening credits will appear very small and unable to read at first. Along with the eerie background music, I want to make the viewers feel uneasy with the opening credits as well. This is why I am going to make the words be zoomed in quickly and appear in a way that they can be easily read. They will be in the center of the screen, and some parts of the opening sequence will include two titles at the same time. The words will be white and red, displayed on a black background. This is because the colors of the mask are black, red and white. The working title is "Chasing Me" that will look something like this:  The title is bold and in all caps, with two different fonts and colors. Unlike the way the other credits will appear, the title will just pop up on the screen normally. However, there will be a moment of suspense before it does appear. The title will disappear after around 5 seconds and all other titles will disappear after 2 to 3 seconds. The titles will ...

Planning for Final Task: Location, Participants, Health, and Schedule

Image
I have planned out the information including where the film will take place, the participants, health information, and the schedule for the film.  First I will discuss the location of the filming. The first place that I will begin filming is in my sister's room. I will not be including a picture of it so I don't allow her privacy to be invaded. The second place will be my driveway as she walks to the car. This makes the car the third filming location. Now, I will move on to the main filming location, which is a gas station. An open field is a location that I would like to use as well. I will get footage from the field and will include it if I have the space. I have not decided which specific gas station will be in the film, but I will choose a place close to home since I will be filming at night time. The open field will be in Tamarac Sports Complex, which is right down the street from my house.  These pictures are examples of what the setting will look like. The partici...
