Genre Research: Us

 Another movie I have picked that is from the Horror genre is Us. I have never heard of this movie, but I have heard of Get Out, which is directed by the same person. I skimmed through the beginning of the movie which basically shows the typical character introduction. A new family comes into a town that they know absolutely nothing about. This movie has mystery, jump scares, suspenseful scenes, shocking turn of events, physical altercations/interactions. In the beginning of the movie, an odd looking dead body is seen being put into an ambulance, which made me think of the undead. A shocking turn of events is who the villain/s actually turn out to be. This is a hidden aspect that my film will be based on. A jump scare in the movie is when the villain appears in the window as the little boy backs away from the door. I didn't finish the movie but from what I've seen, there isn't much fighting, but more of the victims being hunted. One physical interaction I did see is the man being dragged against the floor on pieces of glass. There is dialogue between two ladies in this movie, the victim and the villain. My film will not include any conversation between the two, but conversation with the victim and herself. I also chose this movie because I found another similarity that it and my film share. The description of this movie includes "Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past..". In my film, the mask being used will remind the victim of the past, and a traumatic experience that includes the mask. The victim will come across the mask, and be reminded once again of an event that changed her life forever. In the end, the mask becomes the very thing that hunts her. In the movie, her traumatic experience has to do with seeing herself. This is also what haunts her in the present, because one the villains is herself. The other are her husband, daughter and son, which means her family and her are living out her traumatic experience in their own way.
