Genre Decision Blog
I have come to a conclusion about which genre my opening sequence will be. I have chosen the horror genre. I want to keep the film to one theme and one genre. I have always wanted to be a fake villian and scare others. I feel that horror is more creative than any other genre. The horror genre has aspects and characteristics of other genres as well. It includes action, adventure, and drama as well. Suspense and jump scares are dramatic which are included in horror films. This goes to show that you can do so much more with the horror genre, and there is much more room for creativity. The other two genres that I was stuck between were action and drama. I am an athletic person, but I am not very flexible. I run track and I occasionally do exercises on my own time. However, I do not think I could make a good action movie. If I were to make one, I would want it to be the best it can be. I would want to include stunts, flips, fighting. I am too inexperienced to create an interesting one such as that. Additionally, my sister is not as athletic as I am, which would throw off the balance of the film. As fun as making a dramatic film would be, I'm afraid that movie wouldn't be top tier either. I do not really like too much drama. It is fun to watch at times, but eventually it gets too exhausting. I would not be able to put up that much of a front to make the film without getting irritated and feeling uncomfortable. The horror genre keeps things exciting and is in my comfort zone.
