Intro Blog

 My name is Kylah Avril and I'm in the 10th grade. I am taking this class because it sounded interesting. Since elementary school I was always interested in things like coding, so I thought that's what this class would be like. But I like to edit and record videos, like stop-motion and making edits. I like to play video games and hang out with my friends. I like to play on my PS4 and my Nintendo Switch. I used to spend most of my time with my best friend Ayonna. The coronavirus has limited the amount of time I spend with her and my other friends. I like to do hair and I would like to learn more styles to do. Next week, I am going to practice butterfly locs on her, and I can't wait to see the result. I would want to do hair in my free time, or as a side profession. When I graduate college, I want to be a lawyer. I want to help defend people who are treated unfairly. I have a lot of goals I would like to accomplish. I would like to help my parents pay the bills, I would like a job, I would like to be able to do my own hair, I would like to get my permit and then my license and more. I like to think that I am a very considerate person.  I am very reliable and responsible. I am kind of a perfectionist, so when I do something, I make sure it is my best work. Since I was in elementary school, people have always said I was fast. I never pursued doing track until my first year of high school. I plan on getting better and working on my agility.

My Music Video

  Filming this music video was somewhat complicated. Procrastination and my being shy played a big part in the delay of filming. From the beginning of the process of making this music video, I already had a plan. The song "Halfway There" came to me because it was stuck in my head. I thought it would be the perfect song to use due to its positive message, and the fact that it is school appropriate as well. In my music video, I did my best to give off an optimistic vibe in the video, but it was somewhat difficult. When it came down to filming the video, my cousin, my sister, and I worked as a team to obtain quality footage for the music video. Genre Research: Horror

 This PowerPoint is a project I was instructed to do that is based on the horror genre. I worked on this PowerPoint in the beginning of the year with another student. We were asked to pick a genre from a list of other genres, and research it. Our research consisted of common lighting, camera angles, movements, Mise-En-Scene, elements of horror, example films, common sounds and what we like and dislike about the genre. I have noticed that this PowerPoint has been altered because the slide where I explained my dislikes about the genre is missing. Since this assignment didn't involve meeting in person, it was quite simple to complete. My partner and I split the amount of slides somewhat evenly, which means we each had a responsibility to finish our part of the project. Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

 This storyboard represents how I would like the process of filming the music video for the song Halfway There. I will try to meet my own expectations and hope everyone follows through with my ideas. The first box is what I need to do in order to begin the filming process, which is to go to North Carolina to be with my family. The second one is how I will approach the idea of including my cousin and family in the video. I will then make sure they are ok with being on camera, and part of the music video.
