This opening sequence is from the movie She Dies Tomorrow. I found this movie on the Art of the Title website. I will be answering the following questions about this opening sequence:

What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
The words are prioritized in the opening sequence. The titles are the only images that can be seen in this film's opening sequence. However, there are also moving pictures and/or videos that can be seen inside the words. It looks like bubbling liquids, but it is hard to tell.
What connotations do these images carry?
These images definitely give off an eerie vibe. The words are the only thing that you can easily put together and read on the black title screen. The moving pictures can make the viewers anxious as they struggle to figure out what they can be.
How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?
The basic, black background can give a rise on anxiety seeing as though you never know what can be seen or what can appear. Black is known for being a dark and mysterious color, which describes the Horror genre perfectly.
What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
This opening sequence's purpose is to draw in and appeal to fans of Horror films. Ambient sound can be heard which is a song being played on what sounds like a violin. There is complete at the silence in the beginning of this opening sequence, and crescendo follows until the end. The song being played is not upbeat, and fails to give off a happy vibe.
How has technology been used effectively?
The lack of transitioning can be considered nerve wracking. The only thing you can do is read the titles and make inferences on what can possibly be inside these words. The words quickly disappear and reappear on the screen. This gives off the feeling of never knowing what is coming next.
