Filming Procrastination to Filming Completion
I found myself procrastinating the filming process. I couldn’t really concentrate and didn’t feel comfortable doing school work in the environment I was in. It felt like I didn’t really have free time unless I was spending time with the family. Spending my trip with my family became my free time. Since I wasn’t in my normal environment, and I wasn’t using my normal computer, I put schoolwork on hold. During the trip, I planned the days that I was going to film. I told myself “whenever it is sunny outside, I will ask my cousin and sister to help me with my music video”. On those sunny days, I found myself riding bikes, playing board games, and watching movies instead. It felt as if it just wasn’t meant to be. So on my last couple of days in North Carolina, I became serious about filming for my music video. I told everyone tomorrow we are doing it and that is that. When the time came, I was lost on what to film and where. I decided to go to the back of the house and get some footage there. The process was very awkward because we are not very expressive people, except for my sister. My cousin and I had to find ways to make it seem like we were truly enjoying ourselves since the music video theme is uplifting and positive. I am a shy person, both in person and on camera. So it was definitely awkward for me to be recorded and forcing those happy expressions. I wasn’t completely happy with the outside footage I got, so I started to get more creative and brainstorm better settings, lighting, and interactions inside the house. I recorded myself and used a ring light for better lighting. I also had my cousin record me doing things individually to make myself more of the star in the music video. I then had my sister and cousin repeat an individual interaction that I did to show that we have the same feeling about reaching our goal, even though we aren’t in the same clip.
